Verse of the Month

For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God.

Thought of the Month

The Book of Hebrews is unique in the Bible in that no one knows who wrote it under God’s direction. It has some lovely linkages back to the Old Testament and especially the early chapters are taken up with describing the Lord Jesus as God’s Son. Chapter 1 describes Jesus as the creator of the worlds/universe and as the only one who can save from sin.

When considering an ancient or historic property its quality, materials, design, size, tells us something about its age, the society in which it was developed and the family for which it was built. In the Old Testament we are told of many wonderful things that Moses did, but the writer says Moses was a faithful servant in God’s house, but the Lord Jesus is worthy of greater praise and appreciation because He was both the creator and a faithful Son over the household.

We can become part of God’s household by repenting toward God and trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ. The writer goes on to encourage his readers to continue in their faith and to “hold fast” to it.
